Product Surface Recorder

Show the flow. Get the test.

Record a flow instead of writing a spec. Video, narration, browser actions, console, and network land on one timeline, and your coding agent turns it into an end-to-end test.

Free on every plan. Recording needs a Shiplight account; local browser automation does not.

One recording, five layers of context

A screen recording shows what happened. This shows why, and what you expected instead.

The video

A tab or your whole desktop, your choice at the start.

Your narration

Audio and a transcript aligned to the video. Say what you expect, not just what you click.

Browser actions

Clicks, input, and navigation, timestamped.

Console messages

Everything the browser logged, when it happened.

Network requests

Requests, responses, methods, status codes.

Not your input values

The recorder masks what you type. Keep anything else sensitive off screen.

How it works

1

Record the flow

Install the extension, sign in, and use your product normally. Narrate as you go: what you are doing, and what should happen. Pause, resume, or cancel at any point.

2

Review it on one timeline

It lands in Shiplight Cloud with tabs for console, network, actions, and transcript. Click any line to jump the video there. Fix the transcript, add tags, pin comments to a timestamp.

3

Turn it into an E2E test

Ask your coding agent for the recording. It rebuilds the flow from the actions, reads console and network for context, and uses your narration to know what you expected.

In your coding agent

/shiplight cloud: find my latest recording of the checkout flow

Not only for tests

Capture a bug properly

Steps, console errors, and the failing request in one artifact. Nobody has to ask how to reproduce it.

Explain a feature once

A narrated walkthrough beats a document nobody updates, and stays searchable by title, tag, and date.

Give an agent more than text

A prompt describes a flow. A recording shows it, with the evidence attached.

Decide what deserves a test

Record what matters, review it together, then pick what deserves a test.

Recordings from outside your team

Send a customer an upload code. They record a bug or a walkthrough with no Shiplight account, and it lands in your Recordings list, labelled with where it came from.

Every code carries

  • A name, so you can tell who sent what
  • A recording limit
  • An expiry, up to 365 days
  • Optional tags applied on arrival

Revocable at any time. Your own content stays private. Pro and Enterprise, rolling out gradually.

Stop writing the spec. Record it.
